Going into the fourth round of the Currie Cup this weekend not many would have thought that the clash between the competition's top two teams would be Griquas against the Lions.
All of the games take place on Friday, which gives the players the day off to watch the second instalment of the Springboks tackling the All Blacks on Saturday, and in Western Province skipper Luke Watson's case, the opportunity to get married.
So, Griquas will look to keep their winning streak on track when they travel to Ellis Park to tackle the Lions. Dawie Theron's team from Kimberley are fresh off an 80-7 obliteration of Boland in what was a record-equalling performance by the province.
After 11 tries last week and nine conversions from the boot of Naas Olivier, Theron's side will be supremely confident of maintaining their spot at the top of the table.
The Lions have made great strides since Jake White's input as a consultant but will be boosted by the return from injury of their talismanic captain Cobus Grobelaar. They come off a win against the Leopards last week but face significantly tougher opposition in the competition's leading side on Friday.
They've suffered a blow with the news that the hugely impressive scrumhalf Jano Vermaak is to sit out after suffering a concussion last week. His place is taken by Chris Jonck with Freddie van Zyl stepping up onto the bench.
